Can you really trust a guy like this?

Whether we like to admit it or not, we trust a lot of people that we shouldn’t. The rugged individualism that so marked the early days of American history is but a distant memory, we believe what we hear on the radio, see on the T.V., and read in the newspaper. Very few people are willing to take the time to examine a topic and diligently study it until they have come to some honest conclusions. We, as Americans, have become soft and apathetic when it comes to finding out the truth about a subject.

You may be asking, how does this apply to me and what about that creepy looking man on the front? Well, let’s apply the idea of diligent study to the subject of the final destiny of one’s immortal soul. While many in our nation profess to be Christians, there are very few that seriously take to heart the warnings of Jesus Christ. The teachings of Christ admonish us to “let no man deceive you”(Matthew 24:4). Our soul is the greatest treasure that we possess and securing a pleasant and enjoyable habitation for it in the next world should be a strong motivation for us.

Jesus Christ is either the Son of God or a lunatic.

There is no middle ground here. A good moral teacher does not claim the things that Jesus did in the Gospel accounts. He was either exactly what He claimed to be or He was the greatest deceiver that this world has ever seen. If it could be proven that He was a fake, honesty and truth would demand that His name be erased from history and His teachings should be forgotten as quickly as possible. If, however, Jesus was the real thing, absolute obedience to Him is the duty of every human soul.

Jesus Christ believed the whole Bible.

As a religious Jewish man of that day, Christ made reference to the Old Testament accounts as if they actually occurred. The theory of evolution completely contradicts Jesus Christ. One is right and one is wrong. Our friend on the cover is confident that he came from an ape. Will you accept his testimony without even studying the matter out with an honest heart? Will you gamble with the destiny of your eternal soul based upon “one side” of the story? Isn’t that playing with fire?

Jesus Christ warned often about a place called Hell

To the Savior, Hell was so real that He constantly pled with His hearers to do everything in their power to avoid an eternity in such a place. No “good, moral teacher” would do that! However, the Son of God would do such a thing in the hopes of preventing fallen humanity from taking the path of least resistance and ending up in eternal torment. Common sense tells one that if they reject Christianity, they had better be real sure that they are not making a huge mistake. If there is the slightest chance that Hell exists, one could not truly enjoy “doing their own thing”. Earnest study and conclusive evidence must be brought forward to show that the nightmarish concept of eternal fire for all Christ rejecters is no more than the ravings of an overzealous holy man. That fact that precious few even attempt to do such research is strong evidence that common sense does not figure into most people’s thinking. Jesus bids us to seek after God with a humble and honest heart. Such an inward spirit guarantees that the seeker will find out the answer to his questions.

Jesus Christ said inward sin leads to hellfire.

The Sermon on the Mount is almost always looked upon as the idealistic standard that one strives for but never reaches. This is simply not the case. Chapter 5 of Matthew clearly states that inward tendencies that manifest themselves in lust, hatred, and unforgiveness must be overcome or they will bring future punishment. A moral teacher with no power to enable His followers to reach such a standard is evil at best. The fact of the matter is, Jesus Christ is very much able to “save to the uttermost” (Hebrews 7:25).

Jesus Christ delivers the earnest seeker from sin.

The greatest testimony to the truth of the Bible and the claims of Jesus Christ are the millions of people who had Him change their lives! Jesus truly broke the power of sin in such people. For 2000 years this has happened. In every area of the world and among all nations, Jesus has proven Himself sufficient to solve the sin problem. Will you ignore these testimonies at the peril of your own soul because you smugly trust in the deceptive ideas of men? True disciples of Christ live holy lives and the power of sin is destroyed in their hearts. It says in the Scriptures that Jesus gave Himself that He might “redeem us from all iniquity” (Titus 2:14). Friend, don’t judge the words of Christ by the lukewarm disciples of modern America. Seek fervently after the truth for yourself. If you do it with an honest heart, you will find yourself strangely drawn to the “man of Galilee”.

Jesus Christ promises hope and a new beginning.

While I hope you have come to the conclusion that you can’t trust the man on the cover, I hope even more strongly that you can realize that Jesus Christ will never forsake the one that completely trusts in Him. Millions have found this to be true. In order to experience this hope and peace we must understand our need of mercy and redemption. Our sin produces guilt before God. No one who willfully continues to do what they know to be wrong will go to Heaven. Our only way to be brought into a right relationship with God is through a complete turning from sin and a living faith in Jesus Christ. This is truly being “born again”. Reader, please consider the words of Jesus Christ and strive to secure the salvation of your soul.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled” Matthew 5:6
“If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” I John 1:9
“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” Jeremiah 29:13

You must be born again!
Jesus still seeks and Saves the lost!
